ABOUT:
The Crossing could be thought of as a violin concerto for a small chamber ensemble. The music was inspired by the novel, If On A Winter’s Night A Traveller by the Italian writer, Italo Calvino.

When composing this music, I was very much inspired by the talented Russian-born Australian violinist, Evgeny Sorkin, for whom this work was written.

The Crossing was premiered at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music on 26th July, 2016 by Evgeny Sorkin (violin), Peter Jenkin (clarinet), Susan Newsome (clarinet/bass clarinet), Steven Machamer (percussion), Mark Robinson (percussion), Paul Rickard-Ford (piano), Kees Boersma (double bass) under the baton of John Lynch.
